Bill Payment Options During the Postal Strike

Person typing on a computerIn the event of a postal strike and the interruption of regular mail service, the Town of Ponoka reminds citizens of the following options for paying and receiving bills from the Town.

Please note that during a postal strike, you are still responsible for paying your bills on time. Late charges will apply if a payment is late.

Options for receiving your utility bill:

  • Sign up for E-Billing - Have your Town of Ponoka utility bills sent directly to you by email. You can sign up for E-billing online by clicking here, by email at utilities@ponoka.ca, or in person at the Town Office on the second floor of the Ponoka Civic Centre (5604 50 Street).
  • Pick up your bill in person at the Town office during business hours, Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Options for receiving your property tax bill:

  • Check your mailbox – Town of Ponoka property tax notices were mailed or emailed to all property owners in Ponoka on Wednesday, May 14.
  • If you have not received your tax notice by Friday, June 6 – Contact the Tax Clerk at 403-783-0127, by email at taxes@ponoka.ca, or stop by the Town Office at the Ponoka Civic Centre to request a copy of your bill.
  • If there is a postal strike, you can contact the Tax Clerk before June 6.

Options for paying your bills:

  • Sign up for the Town's Pre-Authorized Payment Plan to have your utility bill or property taxes automatically paid from your account every month. You can sign up in person at the Town Office or by email at utilities@ponoka.ca or taxes@ponoka.ca.
  • Pay in person at the Town Office. 
  • Pay through your bank, either in person or online. 
  • Pay your utility bill with a credit card by using the Town’s credit card payment slip. Please fill in the payment slip with your credit card information, your signature, utility account number and dollar amount for the bill payment. Completed forms can then be submitted in one of the following ways:
    1. Email to utilities@ponoka.ca
    2. Drop off at the Town Office (second floor of the Ponoka Civic Centre)

Note: Credit card numbers are not kept on file. The credit card payment slip must be resubmitted for each transaction.  

  • Pay your property tax bill with a credit card using Option Pay, a third-party service provider. Please note: A processing fee is applied when using Option Pay. For more information, click here.

Please do not mail your payment if a postal strike or lockout has been announced or is occurring.
