Rate of Last Resort

The Government of Alberta has made changes to the default electricity option that impacts customers that were formerly on the  Regulated Rate Option (RRO).

Effective January 1, 2025, the Rate of Last Resort (RoLR) will be the default electricity option. This rate is available for consumers who cannot, or do not choose to, purchase their electricity from a retailer. A customer who is currently on the RRO rate will automatically be switched to the RoLR rate.

The Rate of Last Resort for the Town of Ponoka is fixed at 12.06¢ per kWh for the period of January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2026.

Customers who do not choose an electricity retailer will be automatically set up with the ENMAX Rate of Last Resort. To learn more about the current rate being charged to Regulated Rate Option customers, as well as additional fees, please visit the ENMAX website.

Please view Bylaw No. 07-2024 Rate of Last Resort for full details about the Rate of Last Resort in the Town of Ponoka.
