The Waterworks Department flushes sanitary sewer lines throughout Ponoka from May to October, weather pending.
What is Hydro Flushing of Sanitary Sewer Lines?
Hydro flushing helps prevent potential blockages in the sanitary sewer lines. Hydro flushing is a cost-effective and safe way to prevent blockages from forming in the Town’s sanitary sewer lines.
Flushing the sanitary sewer lines is done by using a high-pressure water jet to clean out any build up. The Town of Ponoka flushes and cleans approximately one-third of the system every year in an effort to avoid potential floods in our community. Sewer systems must be routinely cleaned to ensure safe, consistent movement of the material.
Air may end up in your sewer lines when crews are completing sanitary sewer line maintenance. This is normal and will clear as the sewer system in your home is used.
Sewer cleaners combine high-pressure water jetting and a high-flow vacuum source to scour pipes clean and vacuum up the material causing blockages to restore and maintain normal sewer flow.
