Development Services is responsible for land use planning and development within the community.
The Department's Planning function is responsible for long-range planning and forecasting, statutory plans and other planning documents, subdivision and the Land Use Bylaw.
Its Development function is responsible for all development and building permits, the issuance of compliance certificates and business licensing.
The Department coordinates with Superior Safety Codes (contracted inspectors) to ensure that all residential, commercial and industrial projects are designed and constructed in accordance with the Alberta Building Code and related regulations.
