Boil Water Advisory for Affected Properties on 60 Ave and 50a Street
Water service will be restored to affected residents on 60 Avenue and 50a Street in Ponoka at 1 p.m. today. Out of an abundance of caution, the Town of Ponoka is recommending you boil water for the next 24 hours before consuming it.
The water main has been cleaned and flushed and water samples have been sent for testing. For the next 24 hours, the water should be used only for non-potable uses, such as flushing toilets and showers.
Before direct consumption, the water should be boiled for one minute.
This includes:
- drinking or preparing beverages (including coffee);
- making formula and baby food and for washing baby bottles;
- washing and preparing food to be eaten raw;
- making ice cubes, brushing your teeth or rinsing your mouth; and
- and preparing food that doesn’t require long cooking, such as canned soup.
Discard all ice cubes, food, and beverages, that were made with unboiled water after the boil water advisory was issued.
Residents can help flush the system by running water in their bathtub for one to two minutes after water services have been restored.
The affected area for this boil water advisory is properties whose water service was temporarily shut off yesterday, November 14. This includes residents on 60th Avenue, from 50th Street about halfway up the block west toward 51st Street, and on 50a Street, from 60th Avenue about halfway up the block north toward 62nd Avenue. The boil water advisory will end in 24 hours from now.
