This calculation does not include local improvement levies, penalties, designated industrial property tax, minimum taxes, annexation rates, outstanding tax debt or any other additional municipal charges that may have been applied to the tax account. The Town of Ponoka is not liable for damages or losses that may result from the use of this information.

How are property taxes calculated?

Property taxes are calculated by taking the assessment value of the property and multiplying it by the total tax rate, which is made up of:

Municipal Tax Rate (set by Council - To view the 2026 Town of Ponoka Tax Rate Bylaw, please click here);
School/Education Tax Rate (which the municipality is required to collect on behalf of the Alberta Government); and
Senior Housing Tax Rate (which the municipality is required to collect on behalf of the Rimoka Housing Foundation).
