Town Facility Hours for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

The Town of Ponoka, which is located on Treaty 6 territory, will observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Wednesday, September 30 to recognize and commemorate the history of residential schools.

To honour the importance of this event, the Town flags at the Ponoka Civic Centre will be lowered to half-mast.

Both the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day take place on September 30. Orange Shirt Day is an Indigenous-led grassroots commemorative day intended to raise awareness of the individual, family and community intergenerational impacts of residential schools, and to promote the concept of “Every Child Matters.” We encourage citizens to wear orange to honour the thousands of survivors of residential schools.

Town Facility Hours for September 30

All Town facilities, including the Ponoka Aquaplex, Ponoka Arena Complex, Town Office at the Ponoka Civic Centre and the Waste Transfer Station will be temporarily closed on Wednesday, September 30.

Regular hours will resume on Thursday, October 1.
