Micro-surfacing scheduled to Begin this Week

Micro-surfacing Scheduled to Begin this Week

As part of the Town of Ponoka’s annual Roadway Improvement Program, micro-surfacing is scheduled to begin this week (weather permitting). Micro-surfacing will occur along the following roadways:

  • 54 Avenue (between 56 and 58 Street);
  • 55 Avenue (between 61 and 63 Street); and
  • 51 Street in the Co-op Subdivision (from Highway 2A to the alley north of 65 Avenue).

Micro-surfacing is a proven and cost-effective treatment that extends the life of a roadway. The coating preserves the underlying pavement by preventing oxidization and moisture penetration, which slows deterioration. This helps the Town of Ponoka keep roadways in good condition and maximize the pavement lifecycle.

‘No Parking Signs’

'No Parking’ signs will be placed along roadways before micro-surfacing is scheduled to begin. Please move parked vehicles from roadways on which ‘no parking’ signs are posted.

Removing your vehicle from the roadway when ‘No Parking’ signs are posted in advance of road work operations is a requirement under the Town’s Traffic Bylaw and can result in fines and towing of the vehicle at the owner’s expense if needed.
