Town of Ponoka Council Meeting Highlights - June 10, 2026

Regular Meeting of Council:

4.1      Ponoka Golf Club Presentation

Council accepted a presentation from the Ponoka Golf Club about their irrigation project as information.

7.1      Request for Donation – Ponoka Golf Course

Council passed a motion directing Administration to ask the Ponoka Golf Club to request a formal presentation to Council prior to September 30 for the 2027 Budget Deliberations that will be occurring in November 2026.

7.2      Land Use Bylaw Review

Council approved a notice of motion to review the residential districts within the Land Use Bylaw that currently allow secondary suites and the appropriateness of such discretionary uses. 

7.3      Operating and Capital Statement – March 2026

Council accepted the March 2026 Operating and Capital Statements as presented.

7.4      Proposed Dates for the 2027 Budget Deliberations

Council approved November 23 and 24, 2026 as the dates for the 2027 budget deliberations.

7.5      Regional Subdivision Development Appeal Board Services Bylaw No. 08-2026

Council passed first, second and third reading of Subdivision Development Appeal Board Services Bylaw No. 08-2026.

The purpose of this bylaw is to formalize the transition of Regional Subdivision Development Appeal Board (SDAB) services to Red Deer County following the end of operations by Parkland Community Planning Services (PCPS).

7.6      Subdivision Authority Bylaw No. 09-2026

Council passed first, second and third reading of Subdivision Authority Bylaw No. 09-2026.

The purpose of this bylaw is to establish a Subdivision Authority bylaw with updated Administration roles, following the cease of operations by Parkland Community Planning Services (PCPS). 

7.7      Council Meeting Time

Council approved the commencement time of Regular Council meetings and Priorities & Initiative Committee Meetings to change from 6 to 7 p.m. effective immediately until the Organizational Meeting in October 2026. 

7.8      Council Meeting Dates

Council approved June 24, 2026 at 7 p.m., as the next Regular Council meeting date, and June 17, 2026 at 7 p.m., as the next Priorities and Initiatives Committee meeting date.

Next Regular Council Meeting: Wednesday, June 24 at 7 p.m.
