Street Sweeping Update

Street Sweeping Begins in Lucas Heights This Week

Street sweeping in the Town of Ponoka will move to Lucas Heights this week. Community advisory signs will be placed in the neighbourhood 48 hours before street sweeping occurs to give residents advance notice.

Street Sweeping Operations

Street sweeping in the Town of Ponoka is completed in a two-pass operation to effectively remove all the debris that has been collected along the roadways over winter.

Town crews will make a first pass in the Lucas Heights neighbourhood starting this week, where the street sweeper will drive along the centre of the roadway sweeping debris inward toward the centre line and collecting the majority of the winter grit.

Crews will return to make a second pass at a later date to clear the remaining debris from the roadway. At that time, ‘No Parking’ signs will be placed along roadways (where appropriate) the day before street sweeping is scheduled on a particular street.

Motorists are asked to take alternate routes to avoid street sweeping equipment where possible.
