The Town of Ponoka has released its 2025 Annual Report outlining the many accomplishments and milestones achieved over the past year.

Key accomplishments highlighted in the 2025 Annual Report include:

  • Improvements to Highway 53 (Rodeo Drive) in partnership with Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors. Improvements completed in 2025 included pavement resurfacing and concrete repairs; expansion of the Town’s multi-use trail network along the highway; fencing; landscaping; wayfinding signs; intersection improvements and new signal lights at 46 Street which will be installed in 2026; and the formal renaming of the roadway to Rodeo Drive;
  • Planned Improvements to the Town’s Wastewater Treatment Facility;
  • Grand Opening of the Expanded Multi-Use Skate Park in downtown Ponoka;
  • New 18-hole Disc Golf Course thanks to a generous donation from the Ponoka Arts, Recreation and Culture Society (PARCS);
  • Ponoka Aquaplex Upgrades that saw the change rooms fully renovated;
  • The introduction of New Recreation Programs that included yoga, Pilates, fitness sampler classes and youth day camps; and
  • Downtown Façade Improvement Program which continues to spark the revitalization and beautification of Ponoka’s downtown core.

Guided by the Town’s Strategic Plan, the report showcases work that has been completed in the following priority areas:

  • Investing in infrastructure and our environment, which includes the Town’s annual Roadway Improvement Program;
  • Fostering a vibrant community, which includes hosting numerous community events throughout the year such as Spring Fest, Fall Fest, the annual Santa Claus parade and the dazzling holiday light display at Lions Centennial Park;
  • Supporting growth and economic health, which includes offering Residential and Business Incentive Programs to attract new residents and businesses; and
  • Effective leadership and advocacy, which includes providing ongoing opportunities for public engagement and gathering input from citizens through initiatives like the Town’s annual Budget Consultation and Coffee with Council events.

Community safety also remained a top priority in 2025 with the expansion of the Town’s Protective Services Department through hiring an additional Community Peace Officer. Town Council and Mayor also continued to lobby the provincial and federal governments for increased funding that is more equitable with larger urban centres.

These accomplishments reflect a year that the Town of Ponoka can be truly proud of,” said Ponoka Mayor Kevin Ferguson.
