Ponoka Aquaplex

Annual Maintenance and Facility Improvements Set to Begin at Ponoka Aquaplex on August 24

The Ponoka Aquaplex will undergo annual maintenance and facility improvements from Monday, August 24 to Monday September 7. Regular operations will resume on Tuesday, September 8.

Annual maintenance and facility improvements will include:

  • Draining, scrubbing and deep cleaning of the hot tub and wading pool;
  • Deep cleaning of the change rooms and washrooms, including floors, walls and lockers;
  • Scrubbing and power washing the pool deck and sauna; and
  • Upgrades to the washrooms next to the Multi-Purpose Room.

“The scheduled maintenance and facility improvements are part of the Town’s annual maintenance program that helps ensure the smooth operation of the facility throughout the year, as well as providing optimal service levels and a greatly enhanced user experience for our swimmers,” said Andrew Jones, Manager of Parks, Recreation and Facilities.

“August and September are typically a slow time at the Aquaplex with many people either still away on holidays or busily adjusting to the return of school, which is why the work is scheduled at this time.”

While the improvements and maintenance are underway at the Ponoka Aquaplex, recreation passes for the Aquaplex will be honoured at the Manluk Centre in Wetaskiwin (4514 50 Avenue). Users will be required to present their Aquaplex pass or Ponoka recreation pass.

The Ponoka Aquaplex phone line will remain open during the maintenance period with office hours from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., except for the statutory September 7 Labour Day holiday.

During this time, you can register in person for fall programming at the Ponoka Arena Complex from Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 9 p.m.
