Street Sweeping Update

Street Sweeping is Underway in Downtown Ponoka and Central Zone this Week

Watch for ‘No Parking’ Signs; Move Parked Vehicles and On-Street Obstructions

Street sweeping operations in the Town of Ponoka are underway in Downtown (Zone 6) and Central Zone (Zone 3) this week.

Please watch for ‘No Parking’ signs and move parked vehicles from roads when the signs are posted. Removing your vehicle from the roadway when ‘No Parking’ signs are posted in advance of street sweeping operations is a requirement under the Town’s Traffic Bylaw and can result in fines and towing of the vehicle at the owner’s expense if needed.

Street sweeping is weather permitting and may be interrupted due to inclement weather.

How to Prepare Your Street for a Clean Sweep:

  • Please remove basketball nets, driveway mats and any on-street obstructions;
  • Sweep any dirt or debris on your driveway or sidewalk into the gutter in advance;
  • Street sweeping will not occur on your waste collection day. Please roll out your carts and bagged recycling as you normally would; and
  • Do not park on the street until ‘no parking’ signs have been removed.

Motorists are asked to keep a safe distance from the street sweeper and take alternate routes to avoid street sweeping equipment where possible.

Please note that Highway 2A and Highway 53 are provincial roadways that are maintained by the Province. Inquiries related to street sweeping on those provincial roadways can be directed to the Province’s contractor, Mainroad Alberta Contracting LP, at 1-877-875-3263.
