Fire PicThe Ponoka Fire Department is located at 5401 – 48 Avenue in a modern 10 bay station complete with offices and classroom. The department is comprised of 24 dedicated paid on call firefighters with a full time Fire Chief (Manager of Protective Services). Fire practices are held Monday evenings with the exception of weekend training courses. Members of the Ponoka Fire Department are introduced to the NFPA level 1 and 2 firefighter program. The Ponoka Fire Department is responsible for alarm response in the Town Municipal boundaries which average 100 calls per year. Alarm response vary from structural fires, monitored alarms, motor vehicle accidents, carbon monoxide alarm response, HazMat response and medical lift assists.

The Ponoka Fire Department has been proactive in fire prevention with regular fire inspections performed on a request or complaint basis. In addition to the fire inspections, the Ponoka Fire Department is active in the schools working with the children in regards to fire prevention.
